Camera Focusing in Poser 4

This tutorial is designed to show the differences in camera settings in Poser 4. For this example, the Face Camera was used.

The focus of your camera makes a huge difference in your renders. Many people don't realize that you can change the focus of Poser's Cameras from the default settings. For close up or Portrait renders such as in the example below, you will see how changing the focus changes the look of your model.

Programs/Figures used for this Tutorial:

Poser 4
Victoria 2

Printemps Hair by Neftis [Renderosity]
T-Shirt from the Combat Pak [DAZ3D]

10 mm camera

With the Face Camera at 10mm the facial features are distored, the face appears pointed and the eyes are placed on the side of the head rather than the front.

With a bit of a pucker, she'd make a great fish! :)

At 20mm the features begin to flatten out but the face is still pointed and the eyes still too far around the side of the head.

At 35 mm she begins to look more realistic but still too rounded.

50mm begins to flatten out the face and bring the ears forward.

75 mm flattens the face more and features look normal. My personal preference is a camera setting between 75mm and 150mm.

At 150 mm the head becomes flatter and the flowers in the hair more visible.

At 250mm even more of the flowers are visible and the head becomes wider and the face more flat.

There isn't too much of a difference between 250mm and 300mm. You can experiment with 400mm and 500mm to see the subtle differences there as well.
